Solution For Cattle Farmers
|
|
Recently
we have had a number of enquires from cattle farmers in Canada
for firewood processors.
Since the ban on exporting beef
to the USA and other countries due to mad cow disease, the income
potential for cattle farming has drastically been reduced. Such
farmers have been looking for alternate ways to earn a living,
or to cover the shortfall from the cattle side of the business.
The solution has come from the Chomper.
A versatile firewood processor, which is also available in a PTO
version. “The good thing is that I can make use of my existing
tractors to drive the Chomper. The alternative would have been
to sell the equipment, at a considerable loss,” says Dave, a farmer
in Ontario.
For farmers with plenty of land,
with trees on it, this could be an excellent way to make some income.
With one of the coldest winters in history, and a raise in heating
oil prices, many people are turning to wood heating.
The Chomper is good because it only
needs one person to operate it, and it delivers good productivity of
up to 4 chords per hour. It is mobile and easy to move to other locations
around the farm.
The firewood business is also one
that is not saturated, so the price per chord is not being forced
down. You can sell it by the chord or by the truckload, and you can
also bundle it and sell it at campgrounds and convenience stores
around national parks. What you can't sell immediately, you can stack
up and dry it, and dried firewood sells at a higher price.
If you are currently in the beef industry
and looking to bolster your declining income with an addional business,

Stump Grinding Opportunity
|
|
Perhaps if you know someone who
would like to get into the lucrative business of stump grinding,
you can tell them about our web site.
To
get started in the stump grinding
business, you need a pickup truck, a stump grinder, and a ramp.
The self-propelled stump grinders such as the one shown on the
right, will climb up the ramp with ease.
In residential areas, there are
lots of homes with ugly stumps in their yards. With a stump grinding
business, you come in and grind away the stump, for a fee. You
can earn big income in the stump grinding business, and you don't
have to climb up tall trees at risk of injury.
You should put some plywood screens
around the area where you are stump grinding, to reduce chips flying
into
windows and causing unnecessary damage. Be sure to follow all the
safety instructions in your stump grinder manual. While you are
working on a job, have some students deliver flyers in
the
area.
Soon you
will have more work than you can handle.
Stump grinders are durable and will
earn you a good income. You need to follow the maintenance as per the
manual.

Firewood Business
|
|
Now is an excellent time to get into the firewood
business. It is getting colder, and firewood consumption is on
the increase. There are only about 40 such businesses listed in
the yellow pages in BC, so the market is not saturated. What you
will need is a good firewood processor,
a source of wood, and places to sell your product.
If you are already in the business, perhaps it
is time to upgrade to a larger firewood
processor, so that you can increase your production and capture
more of the market.

Ten
Years On Original Oil Filter
|
| This
is a tale that was just so amazing, we had to share it.
In 1992, a certain parks board purchased a chipper from
us. They called us recently, asking for a replacement oil filter,
since they
had not yet changed it. This has to be a record for the longest
time without changing an oil filter. Typically the oil filter
should
get changed every 3-6 months depending on use. It is lucky that
our chippers are built so well, or it would have broken down
long ago.
If you have an amazing story about your chipper,
contact us. We would love to
hear about it. |
